Visual distraction occurs when the driver looks at anything other than the road ahead.

Some common example include:

  • Crash scenes, police or emergency vehicles.
  • Billboards or advertising vehicles.
  • Checking the kids’ seat belts while driving.
  • Electronic devices, DVD or digital entertainment systems.
  • Composing a text while driving.
