U-Haul’s 2014 Volunteer of the Year

Jan 16, 2015

U-Haul 2014 Volunteer Of The YearHow does one earn the title, Volunteer of the Year, you ask? It takes a lot of selfless giving, hard work, and a heart of gold. Here at U-Haul, we love giving back to our community and it wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful Team U-Haul volunteers!

At U-Haul International, Inc., we have an obligation to the local communities in which we do business, and for many years we have focused on the endorsement of social programs by partnering with agencies and events that directly serve the most basic of human needs – food, clothing and shelter. U-Haul also has a commitment to supporting many military and veteran organizations, as well as organizations that benefit the community as a whole.  U-Haul helps the organizations we support through in-kind donations of equipment, self-storage and merchandise.

U-Haul's 2014 Volunteer of the YearA Phoenix-based company, U-Haul is currently committed to supporting six local charities in the valley. St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Crisis Nursery, André House, St. Vincent de Paul, Habitat for Humanity and Maggie’s Place. Once a month, Team U-Haul volunteers come together to give their time in helping one of our six local charities.

Laura Marin, U-Haul team member since 1983, attended the most volunteer events scheduled for the U-Haul Charities of Choice in 2014. During the past year, Laura has consistently and generously given of herself and acted as a leader among the Team U-Haul volunteers. Her dedication, selflessness and enthusiasm for serving others continue to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of people throughout the Valley…and the volunteers of Team U-Haul.

Thank you, Laura, for continually supporting the six U-Haul Charities of Choice: Andre House, Habitat for Humanity, Maggies Place, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Marys Food Bank Alliance and Crisis Nursery during the 2014 Team U-Haul Volunteer Days.

“Laura being selected Volunteer of the Year comes as no surprise. She is the kindest and most giving person I know. It was best said by Erma Brombeck, ‘Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another,’” Michael George, QA manager.
