There were a few good shots to celebrate and plenty of poor ones to conveniently forget.
The 2015 U-Haul Golf Tournament drew 78 Team Members to Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix for an afternoon of sun, fun and friendly competition on Sept. 20.
It marked the Company’s first official golf outing since 2010. Everyone who was able to endure the 100-degree desert heat seemed to enjoy the team-building activity.
“This was not only an opportunity for U-Haul Team Members to build camaraderie while enjoying a beautiful Sunday outside the workplace, but it was a chance to have our Team Members from the field and Tech Center come together with our Team Members from the corporate towers in a social setting,” U-Haul community relations specialist Zofia Sells said.
“After a five-year hiatus, the feedback we received was positive and we hope to continue this event on an annual basis. In the past, the golf tournament managed to benefit one of our charitable partners and our goal is to be able to do that once again in future years.”
Playing a step-aside scramble format, the foursome of Joe Cook, David LoPresti, Steve Dudley and Josh Goldberg carded a 9-under-par 63 to take first place and the tournament trophy.
The trio of Tom Stallings, Dain Howell and Mike Stuckenschneider and the foursome of Larry De Respino, Troy Froderman, Rob Sands and Rich Amoroso each finished with scores of 65. The Royers – Kyle, Chasan, Bruce and Bobby – secured the “most honest” award with their score of 80.
Rich Baranski won for closest to the pin; Don Cerimeli won for longest putt; and Anush Atoyan (women) and Paul Riedinger (men) won for longest drive.
