U-Haul is extending 30 days free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents of Houston and surrounding areas who have been affected by the severe flooding brought on by the storms of April 17 and 18.
The U-Haul Companies of East Houston, West Houston, Gulf Coast Texas and U-Haul Storage Centers of Houston are all offering free storage units and U-Box containers to aid with flood relief at U-Haul-owned and -operated storage facilities in the area where there is availability.
“U-Haul has been blessed to serve our customers for more than 70 years, and this is one way we can give back to our communities in times of need,” said Matt Merrill, U-Haul Company of West Houston president.
“The flooding in some areas was more than 20 inches last night. At one point, the news quoted four to six inches of rain per hour. There are a lot of road closures today and there’s supposed to be more weather coming in tonight. We want people to know we’re here to help them.”
U-Haul stores have needed supplies to help with storm recovery like boxes, tarps, propane and propane tanks. U-Haul urges customers to ensure their tanks are topped off since propane is good to have in the event of long-term power outages.
