Flood Relief: U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free Storage in Nebraska and Iowa

Jul 1, 2024

U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage and on-site U-Box® container usage to residents impacted by ongoing rain and severe flooding in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.

Heavy rains overflowed the Missouri River on Sunday. Areas north of Crescent (Iowa) and Fort Calhoun (Neb.) saw damage, specifically homes along County Roads 34, 47 and 51. Parts of Interstates 29 and 680 were flooded and closed.

Flooding has displaced many families while causing residential and business damage in Omaha, Council Bluffs and surrounding areas. Access to secure self-storage and portable storage containers is critical during the recovery process following natural disasters.

“The storms have overtaken several communities and neighborhoods,” stated Douglas Graham, U-Haul Company of Nebraska president. “Our teams want to help. For our neighbors who can use a dry and secure storage room or U-Box container for their belongings, we are making five stores available to provide a month of services at no cost.”

The 30 days free offer applies to new storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. People seeking more information on the disaster relief program or needing to arrange storage can contact the nearest participating facility:
