The U-Haul Legal department took over St. Vincent de Paul’s Phoenix kitchen on June 25 to prepare individual food containers with hearty meals for Valley families in need.
With the support of volunteers, nonprofit SVdP is able to provide 7,500 meals a day for those in the community facing food insecurity.
“It’s a sea of orange here this morning,” said Todd Cooley, SVdP Corporate Development Manager. “The U-Haul Legal team is a great group to host. We truly appreciate the continued support we receive from team U-Haul.”
“The Legal department is very blessed and fortunate to be able to work with St. Vincent de Paul and help give back to our community,” added Dave McGee, U-Haul Legal Operations Manager.
The 18 U-Haul Legal volunteers split into three stations. The first two groups filled food containers while the third prepped ingredients for future meals.
SVdP guests were given two menu options: pulled pork, rice and beans; or chicken and mixed vegetables.
U-Haul Team Members regularly rally throughout the year to prepare meals for guests visiting SVdP. The longtime U-Haul charity partner is known as a safe space that provides food, clothing, shelter and medical resources to at-risk Arizonans, including those facing homelessness.
“Our team’s recent contributions to the (annual SVdP) water drive and involvement as kitchen volunteers were very rewarding,” McGee said. “We have an amazing team that understands the importance of helping our community in any capacity we can. We look forward to being involved in many more events in the future.”
