Offer Expanded: Washington Flood Victims Can Access Free Storage at 19 U-Haul Centers

Dec 10, 2025

Update: On Dec. 15, U-Haul announced 10 additional self-storage facilities are available to offer disaster relief to Washington state flood victims, specifically addressing the flash flooding occurring in southern King County.

The Desimone Levee on the Green River has failed, prompting evacuations for thousands of residents in and around Tukwila, Renton and Kent. Including the initial goodwill offer made last week, there are now 19 U-Haul centers prepared to help anyone who needs 30 days of free storage due to the flooding.

Snohomish River Flooding: U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free Storage in Washington

Dec. 10, 2025: U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container usage at nine Company facilities across western Washington to aid those affected by the Snohomish River flooding.

The City of Snohomish has declared a state of emergency following flooding that has already taken place. The river is forecasted to exceed a record-breaking level of 33 feet by Thursday, putting residential properties in jeopardy of sustaining water damage.

Access to dry and secure self-storage units and portable storage containers can assist communities during the clean-up and recovery process following natural disasters.

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability at each Company-owned and -operated location. The U-Box portable container offer is for on-site storage at Company facilities; U-Box delivery is available for a modest fee.

People seeking more information on the disaster relief program or needing to arrange storage services can call or visit their nearest participating U-Haul center.
