Hey, “Orange” You Glad It’s Autumn

Oct 19, 2026

At U-Haul, you could say orange is our color. It has been since 1946, just one year after our organization was founded. It’s on U-Haul storage doors, trucks, trailers, furniture and utility dollies, and plenty more.

But it’s not just our color. Countless moving and storage companies, big and small, made orange the industry’s color of choice.

Autumn also just happens to be the season of orange. Don’t believe me? Here are five ways to get your orange fix this fall:

  1. Pumpkin Spice: It’s on lattes (and a dozen other coffee variations), waffles, muffins, roasted vegetables … you name it. We all love it for about a month, and then we’re ready for an 11-month hiatus.
  2. Leaves: The changing colors of trees in autumn is a feast for the eyes. If you are lucky enough to be in a region of the U.S. or Canada where you witness nature’s paint palette on full display, find time for a nature hike and enjoy the dynamic oranges, reds and yellows that highlight the fall foliage.
  3. Jack-O’-Lanterns: What’s your favorite face? Scary? Happy? Silly? Carving contests are a fun way for families and friends to spend time preparing for Halloween. Just don’t leave your orange friend on the front porch after the candy has handed out. Plenty of animals, including javelinas in the Southwest U.S., love to chow down and make a mess of pumpkins left outside.
  4. Football: We can’t really call a football orange … though it’s orangish… but the uniforms are another story. On Sundays, a plethora of professional teams display some orange in their uniforms: the Bears, Bengals, Broncos, Browns, and Buccaneers … and that’s just the ‘Bs.’ In college, we have the Orange Bowl along with plenty of schools strutting their stuff in orange — Clemson, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Florida, Miami (Fla.), Illinois and Oregon State, to name a few. But it really comes down to the battle of UTs: Texas and Tennessee. It’s a regular Ella Langley standoff. Who are you choosin’?
  5. Self-storage: If you know about the 1-Year Price Lock that U-Haul introduced this year, then you know there are 12 very good reasons — one for each month of consistent pricing — to become acquainted with an orange U-Haul storage door that has your number on it. Your valued belongings securely stowed at a budget-friendly, predictable rate. Just remember, if you are storing a boxed Christmas tree, put it in the front; it will be winter before you know it.
