What can you buy for 3 dollars? Maybe you’re thinking of three items from the 99 cent store? How about a lush green forest to protect wildlife? Or provide hiking recreation and help clear skies of carbon emissions? This can happen through U-Haul tree planting partnerships!
U-Haul Tree Planting Partnerships
Every time a U-Haul customer rents a truck, he or she has an option to contribute a couple of dollars to plant trees. These dollars help U-Haul tree-planting partnerships plant trees throughout the U.S. and Canada. Further, the dollars help sequester carbon emissions produced each time we drive a vehicle. In the U.S., 100% of all customer contributions go to The Conservation Fund. In Canada, contributions go to Tree Canada. The two tree-planting partnerships planted over half a million trees since the partnerships began. The new trees planted from the contributions will help throughout their lifetime. In summary, a huge collective difference is made through those small customer contributions.

Recent Tree-Planting Events
Bring on the green! One of the most recent tree-planting events occurred in August 2016 outside of Calgary. U-Haul customer contributions funded the planting of 11,250 willow and balsam poplar seedlings. The seedlings are in a conservation area popular with hikers. The area also features a multitude of education programs designed for all ages.
The Ann and Sandy Cross Conversation donated 4,800 acres of rolling foothills in the Province of Alberta. It is in place to protect wildlife habitat and conservation education. You can read more about ‘fostering a wildlife legacy’ at: Cross Conservation.
