“Our thousands of Team Members in the field work side-by-side with the Red Cross officials and volunteers, offering U-Haul equipment, self-storage and assistance at our locations throughout the country in times of disaster,” said Bob Wesson, U-Haul vice president of dealer and center operations.

“This is a commitment we take seriously and fulfill with great satisfaction knowing we’re truly helping people in need. The Red Cross also has a legacy of tremendous humanitarian service, and providing our infrastructure to assist its mission is a privilege.”

Jessica Lopez, U-Haul chief of staff, accepted the award. She was among 10 Team Members from various departments representing U-Haul at the event. Guests saw a video showcasing the history, community support and volunteer work of U-Haul during the awards presentation.

In addition to its Red Cross commitments, U-Haul is at the forefront of aiding communities in times of distress. It does so through its 30 days free self-storage disaster relief program. Participating stores with self-storage or U-Box container availability regularly offer the 30 days disaster relief assistance when floods, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes and other devastating events wreak havoc on communities in the U.S. and Canada.

U-Haul is honored by the American Red Cross Debra King Humanitarian Award and would like to thank the Red Cross, U-Haul Team Members and U-Haul customers for their continued support.

The Red Cross assists people in need via five primary fields: disaster services; military services; preparedness and health services; international services; and blood services. In conclusion, to learn more about the Red Cross Greater Phoenix Chapter – or to donate – please visit redcross.org.
