PHOENIX – On the afternoon of December 3rd, 2014, 16 U-Haul trucks were picked up and driven off the lot to help with a very important mission. During a two-week time-frame, these trucks were used to deliver 14,729 boxes of food to families in need through the Family to Family (F2F) Initiative with Christ’s Church of the Valley.

Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV) started in 1982 in their founding pastor’s living room. Over 30 years later, and after outgrowing several more locations, they have multiple campuses across the Phoenix valley.
CCV, being a Phoenix based church, uncovered a drastic need in the state of Arizona. With 1 in 4 children living in poverty, Arizona has the 4th highest rate in the nation. Family to Family is CCV’s response to this problem. And with the help of U-Haul International, the people of CCV donated 103% of the food needed for the 8 school districts involved with the program. CCV distributed 221 tons of food to 7,500 families in 160 schools.
“Again, thanks to the U-Haul team for making this year’s Family 2 Family 2014 such a huge success,” commented Bill Byrdy with CCV. “As you can see by video, this was a combination of thousands of people getting food to families who had nothing or little to eat during holiday break when kids were out of school. U-Haul’s generous gift has encourage all of us to be better givers to meet a greater need”.
