Prescott Welcomes U-Haul for 2021 Veterans Day Parade

Nov 19, 2021

Historic town square in Prescott, Ariz., was full with patriots paying homage to our veterans on Nov. 11. A grateful group from U-Haul was there and privileged to be part of the tribute.

U-Haul, a Phoenix-headquartered company and a staple in multiple Veterans Day parades, was among the entries in the Prescott Veterans Day parade for the first time.

Three U-Haul trucks with U.S. Armed Forces SuperGraphics representing the Navy, the Pearl Harbor Ford Island Control Tower, and a tribute to 9/11 victims and America’s unity rolled through the streets of downtown Prescott.

There was significance in each of the three SuperGraphics. The late L.S. “Sam” Shoen, who co-founded U-Haul with his wife, was a WWII-era Navy veteran. The Shoen family recently helped refurbish the Ford Island Control Tower by donating a new elevator, enabling guests to travel to the top floor and witness America’s first WWII aviation battlefield while remembering those who were lost on Dec. 7, 1941. In addition, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

U-Haul is a proud supporter of numerous military and veteran organizations that provide for the basic needs of veterans. The Company also takes part in parades and other functions to honor our nation’s heroes.

U-Haul actively recruits veterans and gives them preference in the hiring process. The Military Times ranks U-Haul on its “Best for Vets: Employers 2020” list for the country’s top 100 veteran-friendly workplaces.

Thank you, Prescott and parade attendees, for a terrific experience. Above all, thank you to those who have served and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy in America.
