Fleet Week Returns to the U-Haul Midtown Campus

Jan 14, 2022

Fleet Week returned to the U-Haul® Midtown Campus for its annual two-day event, giving Team Members the chance to learn about the trucks and trailers that serve DIY movers across all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.

The Roadside Assistance Department, the U-Haul Technical Center, MovingHelp.com, U-Box, the Shoen Family Conference & Fitness Center, U-Haul Company of Western Arizona, U-Haul Company of Northwest Phoenix, Tempe Repair and more contributed to the event. Members learned about the various branches of U-Haul and the equipment that has led the company to become — and remain — the No. 1 choice of self-movers.

“What I love about Fleet Week is that it brings different departments together,” said U-Haul Roadside Assistance program manager Cyreena Noe-Idlebird, who took lead in putting together this year’s event. “Working in Roadside or the Contact Center, you don’t typically get to go talk to our people in Risk Management. We get the opportunity to not only learn, but interact with coworkers that you see in the hallway but don’t quite know.”

Fleet Week 2022 introduced breakout sessions on Jan. 12. The sessions were put together to inform members about the newest U-Haul fleet and its features. That included the BE Cargo Van with hand controls for those with disabilities, and Safe Trailering® lessons with the 15-foot DC Truck and RV Trailer.

Team Members were also invited to participate in a BINGO game. Players had to fill their cards by collecting different equipment cards, visiting specific booths and attending breakout sessions. Three different benchmarks of a quarter-mile, a half-mile and a mile allowed attendees the chance to win a swag bag, a sports prize package or a grand prize.

U-Haul Farmers Market

The Midtown Farmers Market hosted by U-Haul also returned to campus. While gaining knowledge about their company, Team Members enjoyed coffee, treats and goods from local Arizona vendors. The farmers market aligns with the company’s endorsement of healthy living and sustainable practices.

“The farmers market was a huge hit when we did it previously,” Noe-Idlebird said. “It was really nice to bring that aspect back. People want to experience things and have fun again. By inviting them out, it gives you an opportunity to learn about U-Haul, buy some goodies, eat some healthy food and enjoy it.”

Fleet Week is another example of the U-Haul commitment to its teams and their growth. The Company has prided itself on enhancing the quality of life of every Team Member and providing a healthy working environment.

U-Haul, honored as a “Best for Vets 2020” leading veteran-friendly employer by The Military Times, actively recruits veterans and gives them preference in the hiring process. Find U-Haul careers at uhauljobs.com.
