U-Haul Offers Free U-Box Storage to Mississippi Tornado Victims

May 7, 2026

U-Haul® Co. of Mississippi is offering 30 days of free U-Box® portable moving and storage container use to residents in and around Lincoln and Franklin Counties impacted by the powerful tornadoes that swept through the region Wednesday evening.

The disaster relief offer includes free delivery and pickup of U-Box containers for people in need of a temporary storage solution on-site at their properties.

Severe weather moved through southern Mississippi on May 6, with a large and dangerous tornado tracking from Franklin County to Lincoln County. The twister damaged more than 200 residences, including a mobile home park in Bogue Chitto, and left multiple people injured.

Gov. Tate Reeves has activated emergency response efforts.

Access to portable storage containers is vital to the clean-up and recovery process of residents after natural disasters.

The 30 days free goodwill offer applies to new U-Box rentals and is based on availability. Residents seeking more information on the U-Haul disaster relief program or needing to arrange portable storage should contact:

U-Haul Co. of Mississippi

(601) 352-2602

In addition to its 30 days free self-storage disaster relief program, U-Haul is proud to be at the forefront of aiding communities in times of need as an official American Red Cross Disaster Responder.
