The Super History of Supergraphics

Apr 22, 2015

What’s the story behind all those fun facts on the sides of our trucks? Are U-Haul team members just exceptionally good at trivia? Not at all… well at least most of us aren’t. There is actually a very good reason for the colorful pictures and interesting tidbits you find plastered on our vehicles. Here’s the scoop.

The Supergraphics program first began back in 1988 as a way to pay homage to the two countries that made U-Haul what it is today; the United States and Canada. There is at least one Supergraphic for each state and province which represents something unique or historic about that place. Although the newer ones have facts associated with them, the older Supergraphics consisted of just a picture. Before you start to feel bad for the older ones, just remember: a picture is worth a thousand words! With over 250 different Supergraphics created to date, that’s a lot to think about.

Another important aspect of the Supergraphics program is education. Whether we are growing awareness of the endangered Sandhill Crane, exploring the mysteries within Area 51, or showing that some fossils come from ridiculously cute pandas; we want people to be able to learn something new from our Supergraphics. If you’re ever in the mood to explore all the fun facts we have to offer, you can check them out here. You can even make recommendations or suggest future designs with this contact form!

Overall, we are very proud our Supergraphics here at U-Haul, and really appreciate hearing from our customers who enjoy them as well. If you’d like a daily dose of trivia via social media, be sure to follow our Supergraphics accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. Feel free to give us a shout out about your favorite Supergraphic, we’d love to hear from you!
