PHOENIX – What could be more rewarding than helping hardworking, financially strapped single parents and their children achieve the dream of home ownership before the holiday season?

Not much in U-Haul Company’s book, which is why it serves as a proud partner with Kurt Warner’s First Things First Foundation and its Homes for the Holidays project. U-Haul® has been a corporate sponsor for most of the project’s 10-year run.

U-Haul helped the Amda and Roberts families make their holiday wishes come true this year by furnishing and setting up their new homes in Phoenix and Coolidge, respectively. U-Haul Team Members shopped on Nov. 18, set up the homes on Nov. 19 and surprised the families on Nov. 21 at the unveiling ceremonies.

“U-Haul has been a partner of ours for a number of years since we moved to Arizona,” said Warner, a 2015 NFL Hall of Fame candidate and former Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and St. Louis Rams quarterback. “You guys have stepped up and helped us.”

Nefissa Amda, a mother of four who lost her husband and sister soon after moving from Ethiopia to America, was moved beyond words upon walking into her home on W. Grove St. in Phoenix.

Sharin Roberts, a single mother of six including newborn Braylon, was beaming as her children bounced from room to room checking out their new digs on W. Central Ave. in Coolidge.

You can read more about both families: Amda Family and Roberts Family.

U-Haul extends a heartfelt thank you to Kurt and Brenda Warner, Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona, Aaron’s and everyone else involved with Homes for the Holidays.
