TGIF Detroit! Weekend Fun for Everyone (Sept. 21-23, 2012)

Sep 21, 2012

TGIF Detroit! Weekend Fun for Everyone Weather report weather looks like a normal weekend for the D, with some rain showers on Saturday…..

Feeling Lucky? Luck be a Lady Tonight!

I couldn’t resist – gotta love Ol’ Blue Eyes and there’s nothing like having a great pick me up song to get your Friday night feeling right. Which is why I feel like a little gaming action at Greektown Casino Hotel.  I’m also going to hit up Asteria who is featuring the Howard Glazer Band and Eclipz Lounge for some entertainment to go along with all of my winnings from the poker tables (I wish). Just a great night to pretend like I’m a big fish in Vegas … plus, what happens in Detroit,  stays in Detroit! I can steal that, right?

Guten Tag! Oktoberfest in the D!

It’s that time of year where everyone decides they like beer–including me! With Spaulding Court Oktoberfest, you are sure to have a great weekend filled with fun while checking out the Spaulding Court which is a 100-year-old townhouse complex that was purchased by a grassroots non-profit over two years ago. Be sure to check out the progress. The Oktoberfest Celebration is meant to unveil the next nine months of work to be done on the project while everyone enjoys live music, beer and food–Oktoberfest style! The event begins on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. I recommend getting tickets in advance online at eventbrite for $22.09 or pick them up in person for $20 at Detroit Farm and GardenCity Bird, Astro Coffee or 1515 Broadway. On the day of the event, admission will be $25 at the door. Admission includes your beer for the day. There will be lots of food selections at the event as well.

Detroit Design Festival Ends. Detroit Fashion Week Begins.

Why not kill two birds with one stone? Plus, I have some money burning a hole in my pocket since all of my good luck on Friday(wishful thinking) so why not take off to Runway Detroit: the Official Detroit Design Festival Closing Party on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at the Detroit City Airport, Executive Hangar. The VIP Reception begins at 6:30 p.m., the main event starts at 7:30 p.m., and the Fashion Show at 8:15 p.m. with plenty of one of a kind fashions to buy.   With a wide variety of fashion, entertainment and aerospace fun, the VIP ticket is a great deal at $35.

Tigers’ Final Homestand

The baseball season is winding down, and the Tigers are battling to get into the playoffs. They’re chasing the White Sox for the AL Central title, as well as a few other teams for an AL Wild Card spot. Click here for the up-to-the-minute standings.

The Tigers are in the middle of their final homestand of the regular season. This weekend, they have three games against the Twins, then four against the Royals. These will be the last home games at Comerica Park this season, unless the Tigers make the playoffs. Go to Tigers.com for information on tickets, start times, pitching matchups and updates on Miguel Cabrera’s quest to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1967.

The Tigers are capable of winning the World Series for the first time since 1984, but they need your support.  So head out to Comerica and “roar like it’s ’84!”

GO LIONS!

Don’t forget to show some love to the Lions! With last week’s loss still stinging a bit, I’m sure the Lions could use some support as they hit the road to take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Detroit time. GO LIONS!

Hope you all enjoy your weekend and have as much fun as me!!  Definitely let us know how much you win if you decide to play!!
