ALICE, Texas – The second annual Easter Egg Hunt at Silver Star Food Stores was an “egg-cellent” success.
Families of the Alice community gathered to celebrate Easter with an array of April 4 activities, making for an afternoon of fun, prizes and giveaways.
Thousands of colorful Easter eggs were scattered along the grass behind the Silver Star Food Stores location at 909 South Cameron Street. The egg hunt was divided into two sections as a safety precaution: one for the younger children and one for the older children.
The children collected the eggs filled with candy and tickets for prizes, which included Easter baskets, bikes and scooters. Families in attendance were also given sample products from the Silver Star Food Stores.
A drawing also was held for an adult prize, and prizes were awarded for both sections of the egg hunt. U-Haul Company of Corpus Christi donated a packer cargo carrier for the adult prize.
Silver Star Food Stores, which has been a U-Haul dealer since August 2012, was prepared this year with more than 3,000 Easter eggs after running out the previous year.
“We know the community appreciates events like this, so we make this hunt our biggest event,” Amanda Frederick, daughter of owners Silvestre and Melinda Rodriguez, told The Alice Echo News Journal.
