#LoveWins at U-Haul

June 26, 2015 was a monumental day; it was the day where everyone knew #lovewins. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that all states are required to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples and to recognize same-sex marriages as legitimate in other jurisdictions. Like any newsworthy announcement, the internet, mainly the twittersphere, rejoiced! A hashtag, #marriageequality, started off the trend. It wasn’t until President Barack Obama, who wasn’t the first to tweet, tweeted his endorsement of the ruling using #lovewins. Brands of all types crafted content on the Supreme Court’s ruling.

U-Haul customer, Kat Lee, submitted a #uhaulfamous photo. This photo and a one two-word hashtag rocked the Twitter world:

















This one tweet reached over one million Twitter users, garnered 457 Twitter likes, 718 retweets, and 38 comments. It was heartwarming to see the community come together in celebration of such a significant topic. Here’s a few of the top responses:

Just in February of this year, our brand exchanged tweets with @AfterEllen, exciting Twitter’s LGBTQ community. July 26, 2015 was definitely an example that #lovewins. Always.
