U-Haul Team Members Share their Hobbies and Free Time Activities

Dec 11, 2015

U-Haul team members put in a lot of hard work during the week and they still manage to find time for some cool hobbies and activities!  Below are some ways that keep team members busy when they are not helping people move, store or ship their belongings.

“I am excited to be singing with ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra. March 2016, our 100 singers and instrumentalists will present “From Broadway to B.B. King” with Broadway music and jazz. In April 2016 we offer an exciting family-friendly event “Sea to Shining Sea: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks” with mesmerizing video footage, youth art contests and pre-concert ranger talks.  Every December we put on a beautiful Christmas concert including traditional sing-along melodies.  ProMusica Arizona affordable ticket prices, group rates, youth and senior discounts make for a guaranteed entertainment choice you do not want to miss.”

“I use all my free time to golf.”

David LoPresti, Program Manager of Moving Help®

Practicing sports“My biggest thing is spending time with my family, especially my husband and 6 year old stepson. <3  We love being home so I enjoy working on the interior design of our home and remodeling. I’m the creative brains and my husband is the muscle to tear down walls and hang things where I ask him too.  We are also obsessed with HGTV (guilty pleasure) and the show Fixer Upper more specifically.  I love gardening. Come spring I’m hoping to start a veggie/herb garden.
Ziggy, my step-son, is really into sports so we’re outside playing quite a bit or at his practices and games. Football Sunday’s are big in our home. Giving back is also something we enjoy doing and I often volunteer with different charities in and outside of work.”

“When I am not studying to complete my MBA in marketing, I am either spending time with friends or perfecting my gluten free baking. With my friends, I enjoy going bowling. I have my own bowling ball and recently achieved my highest score of 165! I also enjoy going to see live music. Whether it’s a musician I like a lot or someone I have never head of I think it’s exciting to see a performance. If you’ve ever had gluten free food, you understand it is not that tasty. That’s why I like the challenge of making delicious gluten free desserts. My favorite I’ve made so far is carrot cake.”

Andrea Greenwald, Digital Marketing Specialist

“When I’m not at work or at school, I’m either being very boring or up to some sort of shenanigans with my friends. On week days I tend to just go home and watch some TV or cook for my neighbors and roommates. I love going on road trips up north or to California with friends on weekends if we have the time for it.”

“In my free time, I like to check out local bands. There are so many unique venues in my area! I also like to cook and try new recipes. I have to admit I’ve had my own #pinterestfail, but my new recipes typically turn out pretty well. I’ve recently started hiking and been surprised that I like it as much as I do! Living in the Phoenix area, you can practically hike year round.”

Paige Eagles, Social Media Specialist

“I’m quite the nerd, so you can catch me reading up on the latest urban planning trends and new developments going on around Phoenix or my hometown, San Antonio. If you have ever seen my Instagram, I’m also an avid plane spotter and love going to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to watch certain planes come and go. Lastly, being from Texas, football is a religion. I love college football and root for my alma mater, even if they’re having a bad season. So every Saturday in the fall, I’m glued to a TV or my phone checking scores.”

Sean Flanigan, Training Coordinator

“I love to read, spend time with my husband & dogs, watch sports (Michigan State Spartans & Arizona D-backs/Cardinals are my favs). I also play in a co-ed softball league.”

Nikki Hogan, Project Manager of U-Box Containers

“During my time off I like to work on projects around the house. I’m always looking for excuses to replace some tile, put in a new sink, or fix whatever might not be working right. It’s fun learning how things work, and very rewarding seeing a completed project working properly. I’ve also played musical instruments ever since I was little. Through the years I’ve played a number of instruments, but lately I’ve only had enough time to focus on one: the drums. If you’re familiar with “The Animal” from Sesame Street – he’s my drum hero. Last but not least, I’m a board game pro. I’m not trying to brag… but I’ll take you down at Monopoly. No mercy.”

Tim Armstrong, Social Media Support Specialist

“I’m a business and tech reporter for Cronkite News PBS so I travel around Arizona covering stories from the snowy Cronkite Newsmountain tops of Flagstaff to the middle of nowhere desert of Bedrock City, Arizona. I’m a digital and broadcast reporter which means I work in all mediums with an emphasis on multimedia. You’ll see in my digital and print articles, I take all pictures myself and create the infographics or any accompanying media myself. I also shoot and edit my own video. One of my stories featured on the 5 o’clock newscast on Channel 8 earlier this semester. Multiple of my stories have also been featured in various newspapers across Arizona. Even after graduating, I will probably always freelance on the side and work in multimedia content creation.”
