Leprechauns, Bunnies, and Boxmen

Apr 8, 2016

They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, but at U-Haul, Boxman comes into March like a leprechaun and goes out like a bunny. Check out how some of our team members celebrated the holidays and the start of spring.

Orange is Boxman’s favorite color, but when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, he dons green like everyone else.

The crew at U-Haul Moving and Storage at Long Pond Road in Greece, N.Y. found a leprechaun Boxman at the end of the rainbow, complete with a pot of gold. “We were going to put a pot of chocolate gold coins next to him,” General Manager Heather Sinclair confessed, “but in support of our Healthier U Campaign, we went with plastic ones instead.”

Another Boxman leprechaun showed up at UHC of Orlando. Executive Assistant Falicia Rodriguez and Senior Office Clerk Barbara Fernandez had been wanting to do a Boxman display since being inspired by some of the Halloween displays they saw last year.

“I don’t remember anyone doing one here in the three-plus years I’ve been working for U-Haul,” Fernandez noted. “We’re getting a lot of smiles and laughs from customers and team members. We plan to continue the decorations with Boxman since everyone seems to love it.”

The Easter Bunny also made some early stops before his visits this year.

In Chicago, Customer Service Representative Shay Brown from U-Haul Moving and Storage of South Loop had been thinking about doing a holiday display since Halloween.

“I think those St. Patty’s Day Boxman designs convinced Shay that we needed to be on the map as well,” credited General Manager Jason Zamora.

The big-eared, bucktoothed Boxman has gotten lots of attention. “Most people think that it is a clever and cute idea,” Zamora shared, adding that they’ll be doing more decorating in the future. “Absolutely. This is our first and I’m sure the next will be even better.”

The Windy City wasn’t the only place where Boxman was getting into the holiday spirit.

In the Northeast, GM Chris Rivera and his crew at U-Haul Moving and Storage of West Springfield, Massachusetts, also threw together a display putting Boxman in a fashionable egg-covered jumper.
