SPRING, Texas—U-Haul Moving and Storage of Woodlands attracts customers with their many amenities, including drive-up and climate-controlled self-storage, as well as RV and boat storage. In fact, this U-Haul Store is so hot, it caught the attention of the local fire department for firefighter training.
“We were contacted by the local battalion chief responsible for training,” recalled General Manager (GM) Jesus Diaz. “He mentioned he was interested in our location because of the unique layout of one of our storage buildings. We jumped at the opportunity to give back to those brave enough to risk their lives while protecting our community.”
Of course, they made sure there were no plans to set the building on fire before accepting. And, U-Haul Team members made sure that the training activities wouldn’t disturb any self-storage customers who were trying to access their belongings. But, in short time, the team was able have their facility ready for the hardworking firefighters.
Firefighters arrive to train at U-Haul
Within days, four ladder companies and more than 25 firefighters from South Montgomery County arrived to hone their lifesaving skills. These brave first responders ran through the building with hoses and complete firefighter gear as part of their regular training activities. And, U-Haul Team members watched the action with admiration.
“The training went resoundingly well,” Diaz praised. “The firefighters were able to train in situations that could mean the difference between life and death. We were more than happy to host their training event and can’t wait to help them in the future.”
