U-Haul One of Valley’s Healthiest Employers of 2017

U-Haul is one of The Valley’s Healthiest Employer Award winners of 2017, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. The industry leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage is being honored May 4 at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix.

U-Haul is among 10 finalists in the large company category for the Healthiest Employer of 2017. The distinction comes while U-Haul marks its 50th year of being based in Phoenix.

Award criteria includes being among the most innovative in developing strategies for keeping the workforce healthy. The PBJ identifies strengths of each wellness program and also gauges the results.

U-Haul continues to make big strides in its wellness program and commitment to healthy living. And that directive is not going unnoticed. U-Haul is also an American Heart Association Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite. It is the Company’s most distinguished national honor since redefining its workplace initiatives to promote health and fitness.

Winning Formula for Wellness

Healthier U (the U-Haul wellness program) encompasses four main categories:

  1. Health
  2. Mindset
  3. Nutrition
  4. Fitness

The program focuses on educating Team Members and providing them the tools they need to succeed. This includes:

  • Gym reimbursements
  • Nicotine cessation
  • Registered dietitian plans
  • Health fairs and more

U-Haul offers 100-percent healthy vending and embraces healthy foods served in Anna Mary’s Café, meetings and anniversary celebrations. In addition, many Team Members are opting for stand-up desks to increase blood circulation and productivity. An online wellness portal also features daily articles, a quote of the day, a recipe of the week and health challenges.
