U-Haul 2016 Canadian Destination City No. 10: Victoria

Jun 19, 2017

Victoria earns the No. 10 spot among the leading U-Haul Canadian Destination Cities for 2016, according to the latest U-Haul migration trends report.

Victoria continues to see a substantial number of arriving U-Haul trucks despite a 6.6-percent drop from 2015. Victoria slips back one spot from its previous ranking among the 10 busiest Canadian markets.

U-Haul Destination Cities are ranked according to the total number of arriving one-way U-Haul trucks to a city in the past calendar year. Destination Cities do not account for departing traffic and thus do not necessarily reflect growth like U-Haul Growth Cities. Destination Cities reflect the volume and regularity of do-it-yourself movers coming into a community.

Revitalization in Victoria

“Victoria is going through a major revitalization. People are finding it to be a very attractive place to move,” stated Michelle Benson, U-Haul Company of Vancouver & Vancouver Island president. “Victoria is right off the water and everything there seems to be on island time. It’s a relaxing community with beautiful hiking trails and plenty of outdoor activities.”

U-Haul has one Company-owned store and 10 independent dealers in the city limits. Find U-Haul truck and trailer sharing locations in Victoria at uhaul.com/locations.

“Victoria is also a great place to live,” Benson said. “Victoria will continue to be a destination for DIY movers because of the mild weather and the inclusive nature of the community.”

U-Haul is the authority on migration trends thanks to its expansive network that blankets all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces. The geographical coverage from more than 21,000 U-Haul locations provides a comprehensive overview of where people are moving like no one else in the industry. Migration trends data comes from more than 1.7 million one-way U-Haul truck rental transactions that occur annually.

What They are Saying about Victoria
