Exploring “The Caves” in Hawaii

Jun 23, 2017

HONOLULU  There are many unique U-Haul locations in Hawaii. One of them is Storage Solution Honolulu and U-Haul Dealership, more commonly referred to as “The Caves.”

This location’s self-storage rooms are built in caves that the U.S. Navy excavated to store munitions before World War II. The Navy used the site through the 1970s and completely cleared out the caves in the mid-1980s.

Finally, a developer converted some of the caves into self-storage around 2005. Each cave entrance is named after a U.S. battleship or aircraft carrier.
