Co-founded 72 years ago by a WWII Navy veteran, U-Haul has been actively committed to hiring veterans, assisting veteran charities and honoring veterans each year through our participation in various parades on Veterans Day.
U-Haul is also utilizing new partnerships to make a change in the lives of former military members and their families.
One way is through Humble Design Fueled by U-Haul. The Detroit-born nonprofit delivers dignity and kindness to families escaping homelessness by furnishing and decorating their homes with donated items.
Helping Veterans in the Windy City
Humble Design Chicago, the newest chapter of the organization, is making great strides in its first year. This is due, in part, to the assistance of Team 757, MCP Rocc Bolden and U-Haul Moving & Storage of Bridgeport. The Bridgeport store serves as the headquarters for the Chicago chapter and provides warehouse space for donated furnishings.
November is Veterans Month at Humble Design Chicago. The first of several veteran families being helped this month was serviced on Nov. 8. The ABC and NBC affiliates in Chicago were there to share the story of Alexandria Milner and her two children. Please have a look, and thanks to our Team Members for helping U-Haul support this veteran-friendly work.
