Thomas Fire and Creek Fire: 30 Days Free Self-Storage for Southern California Evacuees

Dec 5, 2017

Two U-Haul Companies in Southern California are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents who have been or will be impacted by the “Thomas Fire” and “Creek Fire.”

The Thomas Fire began Monday evening and has caused thousands of residents to evacuate the area. According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the fire has engulfed 45,500 acres with zero containment as of Tuesday morning. The Creek Fire has charred 4,000 acres near Sylmar.

“Firefighters are warning that strong wind gusts will continue to make their battle tougher,” states Chad Farren, U-Haul Company of San Fernando Valley president. “Many of our neighbors are in harm’s way because of these fires. We want to provide them a secure place to store their belongings at no charge for 30 days.”

U-Haul Company of San Fernando Valley and Van Nuys/San Luis Obispo have made seven self-storage facilities across six cities available to offer disaster relief.

Californians seeking assistance should contact the nearest participating U-Haul store:
