Texas Flooding: U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free Self-Storage and U-Box

May 3, 2024

** Updated May 7 to include Kingwood and River Plantation **

LIVINGSTON, Texas (May 3, 2024) — U-Haul® is extending its disaster relief program to flood victims in and around Livingston, Kingwood and River Plantation, making 30 days of free U-Box® portable storage container usage or traditional self-storage available to residents affected by high waters north of Houston.

Due to severe flooding, many residents have been evacuated and may be facing significant water damage to their homes and personal belongings. Accessibility to mobile storage can aid in the community’s recovery efforts.

“We just want people to know U-Haul is here to help,” said Robert Abidin, U-Haul Company of Northeast Houston president. “Once the flooding stops, we anticipate a lot of families dealing with property clean-up. If any of our impacted neighbors need a U-Box container for that process, we will gladly offer our portable storage product at no cost for one month.”

In addition to U-Box, 30 days free self-storage is available at one U-Haul facility in Conroe. The disaster relief offer applies to new rentals and is based on availability.

People needing to arrange use of a U-Box container should contact:
