U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage to tenants who were forced to evacuate their Charlottetown apartments due to a devastating fire.
A 20-unit apartment building at 6 Elena Court was engulfed in flames on Monday night, triggering fire alarms and forcing evacuation of tenants inside. Surrounding buildings were also evacuated as a precaution.
Tracey Higgs, U-Haul Area District Vice President, announced that her team at U-Haul Moving and Storage of Charlottetown will provide one month of free self-storage to any of the displaced residents in need of a secure locker to keep their possessions.
In addition, U-Haul of Charlottetown will serve as a donation drop-off point for resources that victims can access during the recovery process. Donations will be kept in a self-storage locker and available to tenants in need upon request.
“We want to support our community and the victims of this devastating fire,” said Katrina Williams, U-Haul of Charlottetown general manager.
