Minnesota Wildfires: U-Haul Offers Disaster Relief at 3 Stores

May 18, 2026

U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use at three Company facilities in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin for residents displaced by wildfires burning in Crow Wing and Lake Counties.

Two large fires have forced evacuations across several areas since Saturday. The Flanders Fire in Crow Wing County has burned more than 1,600 acres near Crosslake, prompting evacuations and the activation of emergency shelters.

The Stewart Trail Fire near Two Harbors in Lake County has burned more than 350 acres along the Highway 61 corridor.

Access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is vital to the communities when natural disasters strike. U-Haul is ready to help anyone affected by the wildfires who needs a secure storage solution at no cost for one month.

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability at participating locations. The U-Box offer is for on-site storage at Company facilities; delivery is available for a modest fee.

Please reference the list below for the U-Haul storage locations offering the disaster relief program. Stop by any participating facility or call the nearest location to arrange 30 days of free storage.
