Update (Aug. 12, 2026): All U-Haul locations across Chicagoland will continue to offer a month of free storage to anyone in need following tornadoes and severe storms that hit multiple Illinois communities on Tuesday.

July 28, 2026: Five U-Haul® Companies across Chicagoland are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use at 60 U-Haul centers for residents impacted by Monday’s severe storms.
This is an extension of the disaster relief program that was put in place on June 11 across Chicagoland after another set of storms caused significant damage.
