U-Haul and James Cousineau of Canadian Relocation Specialists, a Moving Help service provider and an authorized U-Box provider, are continuing their work in the Vancouver region to assist Fort McMurray fire evacuees in Alberta.
On Wednesday, May 11 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at U-Haul Moving & Storage at 1070 SE Marine Drive in Vancouver, Cousineau will be hosting another donation day in hopes of filling up his donated 26-foot U-Haul truck yet again.
Requested donations for the disaster relief effort include: non-perishable food items; new clothes, socks and underwear; bottled water; toiletries; diapers; baby formula; pet food; gift cards; etc.
Cousineau last week collected donations over the course of two days at U-Haul stores in North Vancouver and Langley. Those donations were driven to the Edmonton area where they were distributed to persons displaced by the destructive outbreak of wildfires.
“All of the U-Haul locations have been simply outstanding in helping with this project,” Cousineau said. “This has been the biggest disaster in Canadian history, and for the response it has been a huge success in helping those in need.”
U-Haul has extended an offer of 30 days free self storage and U-Box to those in Fort McMurray and surrounding areas impacted by the fires. Please see the link to contact the four participating U-Haul facilities in Edmonton.
In support of the Fort McMurray relief effort, members of neighboring communities have made a difference via their generous donations, high spirits and heavy hearts. People have driven from hundreds of miles away to sign the “U-Haul Truck of Hope” with dry erase markers. The truck has become a beacon for the goodwill being done to aid this community.
U-Haul strives to provide relief assistance to communities in need all across the U.S. and Canada, a corporate initiative that has been magnified by U-Haul becoming an official American Red Cross Disaster Responder.
Canadian Relocation Specialists was recently honored as a Top 10 International Business for the entire province of British Columbia. In addition, it was awarded a Certificate of Business Excellence by B.C.
“When people book Moving Helpers, they may be apprehensive with the reputation of movers as a whole,” Cousineau said. “We work one customer at a time to change that.”
