Dealer Spotlight: Tri-Fitness Health Center and U-Haul Share Focus

Jan 20, 2017

WASHINGTON, Mo. — U-Haul International has established a culture of healthy living for its Team Members. So, it only seems fitting that a respected health club would make U-Haul part of its business plan.

Tri-Fitness Health Center, operated by Yahweh Properties LLC, became a U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer offering truck and trailer rentals in 2013. Tri-Fitness features high-end workout equipment and nutritional guidance classes in the charming town of Washington, some 50 miles west of St. Louis along the Missouri River.

“U-Haul is a good fit for us,” owner Steve Landing says. “I am seeing the health initiatives and team challenges U-Haul is using, and it makes me proud to be a neighborhood dealer.”

Tri-Fitness at 537 E. 5th St. is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Call (636) 239-4710 or visit uhaul.com for rental reservations.

Choosing a Healthy Lifestyle

Landing hasn’t always been a healthy eater and an avid gym rat. In fact, he had to work hard to make a necessary lifestyle change.

“I was a really heavy kid and my mom was German, so eating was a huge part of my family growing up,” Landing says. “Then as an adult, I spent most of my time on the road working for Snap-On Tools. I started eating fast food about 21 times a week. I ballooned up from there.”

Landing would work more than 100 hours per week. He split his time between Dallas and his home in Missouri.

Missing his family and seeing the adverse impact of his job, Landing opted for a change and settled in Eastern Missouri. Tri-Fitness is now in its 15th year of operation.

The Keys to Healthy Living

According to Landing, working out is only the first step in achieving living a healthy life.

“Education is so important,” Landing says. “We are using nutritional classes to teach people how to form healthy habits. People need to be able to take control of their own lives. I can work anyone to death for an hour. But to get results, they need to be healthy outside of the gym.”

Tri-Fitness offers plenty of options for clients looking to get fit. Between nutritional sessions, yoga and fitness training, there is something for everyone.

“I appreciate that U-Haul is also making moves to be a healthy employer,” Landing says. “It goes right along with my business.”
