Home Run Turns Into a Run Home!

A Moving Celebration

Back in November the Cubs made history by winning the World Series for the first time in 108 years. Fans everywhere have been waiting for years to see their team at the top, where they knew they belonged. With the team at a new legendary status, it is not farfetched to think the fans would be willing to help Cubs’ players with anything, including moving! At least two players decided to do it themselves, turning a home run into a run home with a one-way U-Haul trailer. When it came time to move things back to their home towns Kyle Schwarber and David Ross knew to go the experts and rented trailers from U-Haul. After-all, U-Haul makes moving easier! Below is a little information on the players and how they used U-Haul to get their belongings home.

Kyle SchwarberKyle Schwarber

Kyle Schwarber is a Cubs’ outfielder. He injured his knee in the first week of the season. Kyle was out for months, making his triumphant return in the World Series to help the Cubs outlast the Cleveland Indians in seven games. Less than a week later, Schwarber made his triumphant return to his hometown with a U-Haul trailer in tow.

Schwarber stopped in to Priority Tires and Service, LLC and U-Haul Dealership in Chicago to rent a 5’ x 8’ U-Haul trailer to tow some things back to his home state of Ohio.

As you can imagine, the crew at Priority Tires was very excited to meet a World Series hero, especially while the euphoria of the World Series victory was still permeating the city. And just as they do with every customer, they wowed him with superior service. Schwarber was nice enough to pose with the excited crew before heading on his way.

David RossDavid Russ at U-Haul

A few miles away, the crew at U-Haul Moving and Storage of Logan Square was equally excited to see Cubs’ catcher David Ross come into their store. Unlike Schwarber, who has only been in the big leagues for a couple years, Ross retired after this magical season, his 15th in the majors.

General Manager (GM) Joe Alberts said he and his team were awestruck when Ross walked in to rent a one-way 5’ x 8’ trailer.

“We felt very lucky that he came to our store!” Alberts exclaimed. “He said he was taking some things back to Florida to begin his retirement.”

The Cubs’ fans continue to fly their “W” (for “win”) flags and sing “Go, Cubs, Go” to celebrate their historic World Series victory, at least two of their players were able to get home with another important chapter of American history—U-Haul trailers. We always love being a part of new beginnings, whether it is with legendary athletes or the everyday mover. We wish the Cubs luck as Spring Training starts this month and the new baseball season starts.
