Tornado Recovery: U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free Storage in Oklahoma

Apr 24, 2020

U-Haul® is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container usage to Oklahoma residents impacted by Wednesday’s severe weather.

The National Weather Service stated that nine tornadoes may have touched down in southern Oklahoma, tearing through Madill and many other communities. The outbreak resulted in several lives lost, a number of injuries and damage to many residences.

“The tornadoes have caused widespread damage here in Oklahoma,” said Scott Brackin, U-Haul Company of Oklahoma City president. “As people begin cleaning up debris, they’re going to need a place to securely store their belongings. We want to lend a helping hand by making our self-storage products available at no cost for one month.”

U-Haul stores offer needed supplies to help with storm recovery like boxes, tarps, propane and propane tanks. Customers should ensure their tanks are topped off since propane is good to have in the event of long-term power outages.

U-Haul offered one month of free self-storage on March 12 to college students whose school schedules were interrupted by COVID-19. That offer is ongoing across the U.S. and Canada.

As an essential service provider, U-Haul remains open to meet the needs of customers and communities.
