The Detroit Chapter of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Urban Priorities Committee is sponsoring a people’s choice award for the 2012 Detroit Riverfront Competition. You might be wondering, “How does this affect me?” Well, they want your input. You! The average Detroiter. It’s your city and they want to hear from you.

Approximately 400 entries were submitted from architects spanning 46 countries for revitalizing the Detroit riverfront. The area the being redesigned is between Cobo Hall and the Renaissance Center, on the riverfront side of Jefferson Avenue and includes Hart Plaza.

The panel selected their first, second, third and honorable mention entries, but there hasn’t been a final decision on which design to use for the Detroit riverfront. There is still an opportunity to voice your opinion on the designs.

Vote on plans for revitalizing the Detroit riverfront.

You can vote for as many entries as you like, but make sure you give your feedback in the comment section. The AIA wants to create an open dialog with the people who will benefit from this project. Voting and comments are open through January 15.

What is your favorite design? Are you excited about the idea of a revitalized Detroit riverfront? Let us know below.
