Mike Hale Leads U-Haul Center Operations Support Team in Phoenix

Mike Hale has transitioned from the field, where he was a marketing company president for nearly 25 years, to a program manager at U-Haul International headquarters overseeing the U-Haul Center/Marketing Company Office (MCO) Operations Support team.

Hale joined U-Haul in March 1984 as a pack and load sales representative at U-Haul Moving and Storage at Noland and I-70 in Independence, Mo.

His leadership abilities were evident as a sales manager, general manager, office clerk, area field manager and executive assistant (EA). In March 1998, Hale was named marketing company president (MCP) of U-Haul Company of Nebraska (Co. 730), the position he held before coming to Phoenix.

Thanks to his wealth of experience, Hale will be a reliable source of wisdom for field situations that demand quick resolutions.

“After 39 years of serving customers, I’m determined to use my field experience to help marketing companies function as smoothly as possible, and to assist marketing company office staff members in playing their positions with ever-increasing energy and know-how,” Hale said.

“If there’s anything I can do to help any of you, please let me know. Mind you, I don’t claim to have all the answers. But I’m definitely willing to help you to the best of my ability with any questions you may have concerning the situations you face daily in MCO operations.”

Tasks Ahead

Center/MCO Operations Support Vice President Bob Wesson noted: “Among his other assignments, Mike will be working hard to share the most current information, procedures, tools and additional operational support for our MCPs and EAs to help them increase know-how and productivity.”

Hale has hit the ground running by launching an EA message board for solution-sharing. He is also working to help the MCOs increase awareness of common audit findings (concerning Operations and Accounts Payable) at the MCO.

“Mike’s No. 1 goal is to use his years of experience to help others become equally successful,” Wesson added. “You’ll find that he will listen to your questions and feedback and has a way of sharing solutions constructively and in small doses that can be easily digested. He’ll provide field teams with solutions, like the EA manual as one example, which Mike has been updating and can be found in the Tools section of uhaul.net.”

“I welcome any and all feedback,” Hale said, “because sharing your solutions in terms of what works and what doesn’t is our best path forward to success.”
