U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free U-Box Storage for Flood Victims in New Mexico

Aug 8, 2025

U-Haul Company of Southern New Mexico has made its Roswell center available to offer 30 days of free U-Box portable container use to flood victims in and around the Ruidoso area who need a dry and secure place to store belongings during the recovery process.

The village of Ruidoso and surrounding communities were hit with yet another round of severe storms last week, causing flood damage to many homes.

The Roswell location is the nearest U-Haul facility to impacted areas. For those able to make the 66-mile drive, one month of free storage will be provided.

Access to self-storage rooms and portable storage containers is essential to communities during and after natural disasters.

The 30 days free offer applies to new U-Box rentals for on-site storage and is based on availability. People seeking more information on the U-Haul Disaster Relief program or needing to arrange storage services can contact:

In addition to its 30 days free self-storage disaster relief program, U-Haul is proud to be at the forefront of aiding communities in times of need as an official American Red Cross Disaster Responder.
