Tales of Success: 7 U-Haul Runners Manifest Strength at 2025 Marine Corps Marathon

Nov 19, 2025

U-Haul proudly sponsored seven Team Members who boldly tested their endurance on Oct. 26 in the 50th Marine Corps Marathon in metro Washington, D.C., while creating memories to last a lifetime.

As part of the MCM benefit at U-Haul, these runners were selected by a special committee that reviewed entry submissions from Team Members throughout the Company. Once selected, months of training, dedication and hard work followed to prepare for the race.

Below, in their own words, five of those participants described the special experience of running the marathon in 2025.

Mac Fox

Mac Fox

Assistant general manager, U-Haul Moving and Storage at Kanis Road, Little Rock, Ark. (Co. 742)

“I wanted to dedicate this race to my father, Jon Fox, a Marine who fought in Iraq post-9/11, and to my Arkansas U-Haul family. Despite what others may think, never doubt yourself and remember that energy multiplied by know-how equals results (E x KH = R). That short equation can carry you through both a rather short marathon and a lifetime career with U-Haul.”

Kelly McDole

U-Box customer care representative, U-Haul Co. of South Central Indiana (Co. 764)

“During training, my family got involved and helped motivate me as I crept up on the marathon day. I started to get really nervous and wondered what I was doing, and if I belonged there. Miranda Luna, Community Relations specialist at U-Haul International, kept telling me that it was me against me! I received text messages as things got tough, telling me I can still do this and to keep fighting. Mile six was the first time I had seen my husband during the race, and he was so excited. All I could say was, ‘Dang, this is hard!’ but I kept going. I finished in a time of six hours, 50 minutes, and I danced across the finish line. It was the most beautiful experience, and I will forever be grateful.”

Sean Reynolds

Area field manager, U-Haul Co. of Colorado Springs (Co. 866)

“The Marine Corps Marathon was an experience I’ll never forget. Just six months before race day, I could barely run a mile. Crossing that finish line still feels surreal — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when you commit yourself fully to a goal.

“Training became a lesson in consistency, patience and mental strength. I learned that running a marathon isn’t just about running; it’s about growth, purpose and proving to yourself that you can do hard things. Now that the marathon is behind me, I feel both accomplished and hungry for more. The finish line wasn’t the end; it was the beginning of what’s next!”

Jennifer Rucker

Auditor, U-Haul Internal Audit, Phoenix

“Running the Marine Corps Marathon for the second time feels both humbling and empowering. The first time was about proving to myself that I could actually do it. During my training, I realized I had the strength, discipline and determination to cross the finish line. This time, it was about honoring the journey, appreciating the tradition and feeling connected to something much bigger than myself.

“Each mile carries a story of sacrifice, discipline and perseverance that creates a mirror of what the Marine Corps represents. Being part of this milestone year reminds me how fortunate I am to run among heroes, to feel the energy of the crowd and to experience the pride that comes with wearing that finisher medal again.”

Christina Simpson

Christina Simpson

Marketing company president, U-Haul Co. of Southwest Houston (Co. 930)

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been selected to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon alongside fellow U-Haul Team Members. This marathon proved to be the most challenging endeavor I have ever undertaken, pushing me to my limits both mentally and physically. The experience was truly unique and one of a lifetime! There were bouts of tears and emotions that made me question my purpose for being there, but in the end, it was all worth it!

“The rigorous six months of training, personal sacrifices and unwavering support from spectators made every moment — including the pain and daunting hills — worthwhile as I crossed the finish line to receive my finisher medal from the Marines.”
