Hurricane Preparation: U-Haul Offers Help in 4 States ahead of Isaias

Oct 7, 2026

Six U-Haul® Companies spanning the northern Gulf Coast and all of Alabama and Mississippi are proactively offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use at 101 stores in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi to residents in the path of Isaias, an intensifying tropical storm that is expected to make landfall as a hurricane.

Forecast models indicate Isaias could become a Category 2 storm and impact coastal cities beginning Friday with severe storm surge, winds in excess of 100 mph, torrential rainfall, and widespread flooding. Alabama and Mississippi are expected to see heavy rain inland throughout those states.

Residents and businesses often need storage as they prepare for these storms or deal with clean-up and recovery afterward. Access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is critical to communities when natural disasters strike.

U-Haul is ready to help anyone who needs a dry, secure storage solution at no cost for one month.

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. The U-Box offer is for on-site storage at participating facilities; delivery is available for a modest fee.

Please reference the list below for cities where U-Haul locations are offering the disaster relief program. Stop by any U-Haul-owned and -operated facility in these cities or call the nearest regional office to arrange 30 days of free storage.
