U-Haul Gets Groovy, Supports Kids at Make-A-Wish Arizona Ball

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.A group of U-Haul® Team Members traveled back in time, or so it seemed, at the 2015 Make-A-Wish® Arizona Studio 540 Wish Ball this year.

U-Haul has had a table at the Wish Ball since 2009.

On April 11, The Phoenician in Scottsdale was transformed into an extravagant 1970s nightclub to help a meaningful cause. The groovy 70s attire helped recreate the days of Studio 54, the most recognizable club of the disco era.

“There were disco balls at every table,” U-Haul Director of External Communications Seabastien Reyes said.

Make-A-Wish Arizona, with the help of U-Haul and other partners, raised enough money on this night to grant 40 Arizona kids’ wishes. U-Haul has been a supporter of Make-A-Wish Arizona through Wish Ball sponsorships, printing sponsorships and more.

Approximately 540 Arizona children are diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition each year. To strive for granting 540 wishes, Make-A-Wish Arizona declares its event the Studio 540 Wish Ball.

Make-A-Wish Arizona holds the annual Wish Ball to kick off the season of giving. U-Haul has partnered with Make-A-Wish Arizona since 2009 and reserves a table at every Wish Ball.

“One of the great things about this event is that we are able to involve U-Haul Team Members from the field,” Reyes said. “The only reason U-Haul can participate in any charity activities is because of the field. If we didn’t have those funds from truck, trailer and storage rentals, we wouldn’t be able to give back like this.”

Offering U-Haul Team Members opportunities to interact and occasionally “boogie down” with charitable organizations is important to the Company.

Mark Buford, U-Haul Marketing Company President of Northern Arizona, attended the Wish Ball and even won his auction bid for dinner with the Mayor of Phoenix.

“I’m looking forward to utilizing this opportunity to sit down with Mayor Greg Stanton to express U-Haul Company’s commitment to sustainability and to our customers and community,” Buford said.
