Down Right Beautiful Fashion ShowU-Haul was proud to play a small role in helping the Phoenix Children’s Hospital pull off its second annual Downright Beautiful Fashion Show on March 22 at the Musical Instrument Museum.

Some 200 guests attended the Candy Land-themed event, which raised more than $20,000 to benefit the only freestanding pediatric Down Syndrome Clinic in Arizona located at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Down Right Beautiful Fashion ShowThe weekend of March 21-22 celebrated World Down Syndrome Day.

Approximately 20 Down Syndrome patients, ranging in age from 16 months to 16 years, modeled the latest fashions provided by Kohl’s department stores. Several events photos are pictured here, but you can view the entire photo album on Flickr.

U-Haul provided a truck to allow PCH coordinators to get supplies and auction items to and from the event. U-Haul, an avid supporter of PCH and all it does to help ill children, recently assisted PCH in its Ignite Hope candlelight walk by transporting event items and delivering Christmas presents to patients in U-Haul trucks.

An auction featured an autographed echolalia by the band Train, sport packages and resort stays.

CBS 5 traffic reporter Chelsey Davis emceed the event for the second year, introducing Director of the Developmental Pediatrics Department Dr. Robin Blitz and guest speaker Michael Maske. She awarded the “Downright Remarkable Award” to the Board of Visitors: Mona Smith and Melissa Coy.

Opened in March 2013, the Down Syndrome Clinic has seen more than 200 patients and provides clinical services on site three times a month. Specialties include developmental pediatrics, genetics, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
