U-Haul Helps Deliver Christmas Joy with Toys for Tots

Dec 15, 2014

Ask any young child what they would like for Christmas this year and 9 times out 10 it will be TOYS! From teddy bears to building blocks and princess dolls to race cars, a gift of a toy would put a smile on any child’s face.

The unfortunate thing is, however, that there are 7 million children across the U.S. who will not be opening presents under a Christmas tree this year, who will not be un-wrapping a special toy just for them, who will not get that chance to smile.

U-Haul and Toys for Tots are making sure that doesn’t happen. U-Haul proudly supports the Toys for Tots Campaign in their mission to distribute toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

IMG_2844The principal Toys for Tots activity which takes place each year is the collection and distribution of toys in the communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located.  Local Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and concurrently generate toys and monetary donations.

But with so many toys being collected, they certainly need a way to be picked up and distributed to children in need. That’s where U-Haul comes in! U-Haul, commonly known as the do-it-yourself moving company, transforms into toy collecting machines across the U.S. Hundreds of trucks are utilized by Toys for Tots Coordinators to pick up, drop off and distribute donated toys to children across the country!

U-Haul is a proud partner of Toys for Tots and grateful for the opportunity to assist the communities in which we serve. From everyone here at U-Haul, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season!

Have you provided toys to Toys for Tots? What is your favorite toy to give?
