U-Haul Shows Support for Susan G. Komen Race in Philadelphia

Oct 9, 2015

U-Haul Team Members recently showcased their devotion to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Philadelphia.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the leading fundraiser of the charity with 75 percent of the money raised going to the community to fund breast cancer screenings, education and patient-navigation programs. Twenty-five percent is donated to global research of breast cancer.

Jason Ibbetson, executive assistant for U-Haul Company of North Philadelphia, noted that aiding the race this year meant enduring changing weather conditions. Early in the week, the air was humid with temperatures in the 80s. But it rapidly changed during the three-day, 60-mile event.

U-Haul Company of North Philadelphia showed its support for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

U-Haul Company of North Philadelphia Team Members braved the rain to show their support for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

“The weather was miserable – 47 degrees with a soaking rain,” Ibbetson said. “A lot of people thanked us because they couldn’t believe we would stand in the rain cheering them on.”

Ibbetson and fellow Team Members handed out water, protein bars and stickers to participants who walked for an important cause.

Ibbetson said that interacting with locals from the Glenside community as well as participants who traveled from across the country gave his team plenty of spirit and motivation to participate in this event going forward … regardless of the weather.

“Absolutely, we’d do it again because it’s a big part of the community,” he said. “U-Haul is not just a corporation. We are involved in the community. And this race builds so much more than just this community. It reaches farther than just this community.”
