TGIF Detroit! Weekend Fun for Everyone (Aug. 24-26)

Aug 24, 2012

TGIF DETROIT!!!  Weather for this weekend  I don’t think the weather forecast could be any better for this weekend and just in time for some great outdoor fun!

THERE’S NO WHINING ABOUT THIS….
What a great way to start off the weekend – a little vino and tapas.  Every wine connoisseur needs to check this out.  MotorCity Wine Tasting is tonight, Aug. 24th,  from 6 – 8:30 p.m., located at MotorCity Wine Boutique, 608 Woodward Ave.  The website boasts being named “Best of Detroit Wine Bar” and is known for blending wine, music and art.  Enjoy tasting 18 select wines, red and white, accompanied by cheeses, charcuterie and antipasti in the relaxed living room setting.  MotorCity Wine also doubles as a wine store, which means you can buy that bottle of  wine you can’t live without.  You must be 21 or older and it is highly recommended that you purchase your $25 ticket in advance as there is limited capacity.

Detroit Burger Brawl

LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!
Strap on your boxing gloves and get ready to take a big hit… that is… I mean… in the gut!  The city will be bursting with excitement as some of Detroit’s best chefs duke it out for the title of “Best Burger” at the first Burger Brawl Detroit.  The battle for best burger will take place on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Fairway Packing meat shop located at 1313 Erskine Street, which is located in the popular Historic Eastern Market.  Each chef will be allowed to grind up and pound their very own meat blend, then put a meat beatdown on the grill with the hopes of WOWING the judges and taking home the title for “Best Burger.”  The best part is that you can watch it all go down and sample these belly busting burgers!

OUTDOOR FUN FOR EVERYONE
Sunday should be a day to wind down and enjoy with the family! Why not enjoy Detroit like a tourist and feel as if you are on vacation?  Grab your camera and enjoy  The Detroit Riverfront which currently boasts over 3 miles of waterfront activity for the entire family to enjoy.  With so many activities available you will be sure to find something for everyone.  Be a kid again and enjoy a fun carousel ride, a leisurely lunch on the waterfront or an adventure-filled Diamond Jack river tour, rent a bike through Wheelhouse Detroit, or try to catch a butterfly in a garden.  You can even meet some new friends for your dog by joining the Riverfront Canine Club which starts Sunday, Aug. 26th at 10:30 a.m. or simply have fun reenacting a scene from “The Shining” and get lost in the labyrinth.

No matter what you decide to do this weekend, just remember “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

What plans do you have for the weekend?  We’d all love to know!
