Oct 12, 2012

TGIF Detroit! Weekend Fun for Everyone Weather report As you can see, the weather this weekend is just OK.  They are predicting a little rumble and tumble (that means a little thunder and wind) in the sky on Sunday, but I love a good thunder storm, don’t you?

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words – and This One Sums  Up My Week – What About You?

I  hope I’m alone in experiencing a busy, chaotic and weird week.  If not, take a trip to the DIA (Detroit Institute for Arts) and wrap your mind around their exhibit showcasing Picasso and Mattisse:  The DIAs Prints and Drawings.  I don’t consider myself an art fanatic but I do enjoy abstract and demented art that makes you think, “What is That?” and then, “Why Is That?”

The exhibit features 20th-century art and over 100 prints and drawings created by Picasso and Matisse.    This exhibit will be  around for quite some time, through January 6, 2013, and the museum is open Friday 10 am – 10 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 5 pm!

Need I Say More?
This is the month to go pink!  We all know someone who is battling or has battled the horrible disease of cancer.  The more we encourage.  solicit donations and give funds to support research on treatment and cures for cancer the more we can learn about this disease and improve the future.  You have your chance this weekend to show your support!   2012 Making Strides Detroit Walk is taking place this weekend:

Sign up today and join in the fight against cancer!
Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

Exploring the “D” in Style!
Let’s not forget about the wonderful Art Detroit Now Gallery Week which runs through the weekend. What a fabulous line up of studio tours, lectures, openings and special exhibitions happening across Metro D and a fantastic way to explore the city!  Come one come all – with the extensive list of galleries hosting receptions and special exhibits there is sure to be something fun for everyone!

Now it’s time to turn my Friday frown up-side down and enjoy the weekend! Hope you enjoy and have some great weekend!

What are your weekend plans?  Did I miss any fun events? Tell us if there is something going in the “D” that we should all know about!
