‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through the U-Haul Nabisco building, things continued to stir…
Pushing to complete
We are pushing to complete the showroom. The restroom’s drywall is finished. The manager’s office is being worked on and the ceiling in the office is repaired. A hole has been cut in the brick wall to install a window roughly 20″ wide and as high as the door.
A hole in the roof of the showroom was repaired, and painting of the showroom began this weekend. The wired glass in the window in the scoop/bucket area has been replaced. New glass for one set of showroom windows has been installed. A frame for another window has arrived, and will replace a temporary wooden frame. And work has begun on installing a water heater.
One ramp done, another weather delayed
We were able to complete work on the forklift ramp but had to stop the pour for the footings for the handicap ramp on Thursday due to high winds and rain. The pour is rescheduled for this week, weather permitting.
Did you know?
The photo I posted last week shows electrically operated hoppers in a mixing room. The hoppers carried flour to the mixers and to dough troughs for the spindle mixers. The mixing rooms were located on the sixth floor. The mixing rooms were on the Forsyth Avenue side of the floor and the bakery ovens were opposite them, minimizing the distance the dough had to travel from mixers to ovens.
Light it up!
And finally, here’s how the U-Haul signs we installed look at night.
