U-Haul Moving and Storage of New Center made its debut to the investment community last week as part of the 2013 AMERCO Virtual Analyst and Investor Webcast. (AMERCO is the parent company of U-Haul.)
CEO Joe Shoen began the webcast by showcasing one of U-Haul Company’s sustainability initiatives: adaptive building reuse. Adaptive building reuse has been part of U-Haul Company’s business plan since 1973. Since then, U-Haul has purchased and rehabilitated more than 1,000 buildings.
The former NBC-Nabisco building, built in 1920, is the most recent U-Haul adaptive building-reuse project. In the webcast, Joe highlighted the economic, social and environmental benefits of revitalizing the building, and also reaffirmed U-Haul Company’s commitment to Detroit and to being “part of the solution, not part of the problem.”
Stay tuned.
This blog was created to let the community know that U-Haul is in Detroit, and to share our plans with you and to get input from the community. We want to hear from you. Tell us what you like and don’t like about our posts, building plans or anything else you want to share about Detroit. We are excited to be part of the Detroit community and want to learn from you!
