U-Haul Video Honored in 37th Annual Telly Awards

Jun 8, 2016

U-Haul has been recognized as a Bronze Telly winner in the 37th annual Telly Awards competition for its insightful video “Making History.” The U-Haul piece was selected among 13,000-plus entries from all 50 states and five continents.

Since 1945, U-Haul has designed and manufactured its own equipment from the ground up for the do-it-yourself mover. As told by the craftsmen who build that equipment, “Making History” is a tribute to the care and quality devoted to all U-Haul products and services.

“We wanted to do more than just tell the story of our manufacturing process,” U-Haul Executive Vice President Stuart Shoen said. “Our story is about Team Members who realize that they have a stake in the products they build. We wanted our video to reflect their pride in what they deliver to the U-Haul customer.”

The Telly Awards, founded in 1979, serves as the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs; the finest video and film productions; and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.

U-Haul Telly Award

For its 37th season, the awards gave the public the power to rate videos submitted as part of the People’s Telly Awards. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the winners, the online community helped determine the People’s Telly Awards winners.

More than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Entries do not compete against each other but rather are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as Silver Telly winners. About 25 percent of entries are chosen as Bronze Telly winners.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “U-Haul Company’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill and dedication to their craft, and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

Congratulations to the U-Haul A/V team on this terrific honor!
