U-Haul 2016 Destination City No. 4: Orlando

May 23, 2017

Orlando chimes in as the No. 4 U-Haul U.S. Destination City for 2016, according to the latest U-Haul migration trends report.

Orlando witnessed a fractional decrease in year-over-year arrivals, sliding back one spot from its 2015 ranking, but still remains one of the busiest U.S. markets for incoming U-Haul trucks.

U-Haul Destination Cities are ranked according to the total number of arriving one-way U-Haul truck rentals to a city in the past calendar year. Destination Cities do not account for departing traffic and thus do not necessarily reflect growth like U-Haul Growth Cities. Destination Cities reflect the volume and regularity of do-it-yourself movers coming into a community.

U-Haul has 12 Company-owned stores and 58 independent neighborhood dealers within the city limits, and also offers many more locations to fulfill the needs of suburbs outside Orlando. Find U-Haul truck and trailer sharing locations in Orlando at uhaul.com/locations.

Mayor Dyer Approves

“It’s no surprise that we have become a top-ranked destination city,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said. “Our winning combination of economic opportunity and world-class sports, entertainment and cultural amenities make our vibrant, innovative and diverse city a place residents are proud to call home. Orlando is benefiting from billions in public and private capital investment to support population and job growth. It’s no surprise that U-Haul movers are seeking an Orlando address for their next home.”

“Orlando is a fast-growing, fast-paced city,” added Rod Baldwin, U-Haul Company of Orlando president. “Disney World and Universal Studios are located in Greater Orlando, so this area is considered the happiest place on Earth. We’ve had steady growth here for more than 20 years. U-Haul has plans to add at least three more truck and trailer sharing and self-storage facilities in this market in the upcoming year.”

Orlando is the No. 4 U-Haul U.S. Destination City for 2016

Neighboring city Kissimmee is a leading U-Haul Growth City for 2016 among cities with a population of more than 50,000, helping Florida to rank second among U-Haul 2016 Growth States behind Texas.

U-Haul is the authority on migration trends thanks to its expansive network that blankets all 50 states in addition to 10 Canadian provinces. The geographical coverage from more than 21,000 U-Haul locations provides a comprehensive overview of where people are moving like no one else in the industry. Migration trends data is compiled from more than 1.7 million one-way U-Haul truck rental transactions that occur annually.

What They are Saying about Orlando

“U-Haul has created new companies to manage the Orlando market several times because of the growth. It continues to grow in each section, while I expect the growth to continue for many more years. People want to come here because of its beautiful weather, the beautiful city, the ever-expanding job market and the fast infrastructure growth.” — Rod Baldwin, U-Haul Company of Orlando president
